Obituary


Derald Leroy Crum, age 79, entered into heaven on May 9 after a long struggle with Parkinson's. He passed at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He attended Harte Ransom, then Modesto High where he was active in FFA and 4H. He served in the Army from 1956-1958. He retired after working for 32 years at Tri-Valley Growers Plant 7. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed Elk hunting with his companions, Tom and Jerry. Camping and waterskiing with family. He was a long-time member of the Back-Horseman Club. Derald Leroy Crum, age 79, entered into heaven on May 9 after a long struggle with Parkinson's. He passed at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He attended Harte Ransom, then Modesto High where he was active in FFA and 4H. He served in the Army from 1956-1958. He retired after working for 32 years at Tri-Valley Growers Plant 7. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed Elk hunting with his companions, Tom and Jerry. Camping and waterskiing with family. He was a long-time member of the Back-Horseman Club. He was also a private pilot out of Modesto Airport.

Derald is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Tina Crum. He is survived by his brother Delmar Crum and sister-in-law Nora Crum of Clovis, brother Ron Crum of Modesto, and Derald's children--Chris Crum of Ceres, Cathy Crum-Conlon and son-in-law Mike of San Clemente, and Carol Crum-Golien and son-in-law "Swede" of Ceres, as well as 8 grandchildren-Catrina, Craig, Christina, Caitlin, Kevin, Megan, Alia, and Jon--and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are being handled by Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday, May 19 from 4-8 p.m. and a Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 20 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice, Westside Ministries of Turlock, or the Parkinson's Foundation (Parkinson.org/donate).
